DATA

Arts Connect Houston is committed to collecting and utilizing data to drive system-wide change.

The numbers don’t lie: an education rich in the arts leads to better outcomes for students. At Arts Connect, we believe that the most effective way to expand arts access is to simply point to the data. We have close relationships with many research organizations and think tanks across the country, including the Arts, Humanities & Civic Engagement Lab, the Houston Education Research Consortium, Ingenuity in Chicago, and The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.  Arts Connect manages the city's artlook® platform, a game-changing data mapping tool that highlights and visually explores arts access across Houston. The data collected through the artlook® platform is utilized by Houston ISD decision-makers, parents, non-profit organizations, and funders, to name a few. Arts Connect also works closely with Houston ISD on a beginning and end-of-the-school-year fine arts teacher survey.

OUR DATA PARTNERS

Arts Connect Houston is excited to partner with Texas A&M's Arts, Humanities & Civic Engagement Lab, an NEA Research Lab, dedicated to the rigorous investigation of the role of the arts and humanities in promoting human development, social and emotional well-being, and civic engagement. As our society faces continuous challenges with social cohesion, meaning, and purpose, research on the role of the arts in building better lives is critical.
